I found out my grandmother passed away this afternoon (my father’s mother). I started to get emotional earlier but I held it together. I have to be strong for my father now. I also feel as though I shouldn’t be sad, I should be blessed that she had such a fulfilling life of 93 years. I know a lot of people who weren’t fortunate to have their grandparents live long..dying in their 60s and early 70s and to me that’s still pretty young. I don’t know if it’ll sink in anytime soon, the fact that she’s no longer here. I’m usually the type to go on for days fine but then have it all come crashing down in an emotional wreckage. when my other grandmother passed away in 2009 I held it together until I had to console my mother. watching her cry made me cry. I haven’t witnessed my dad cry yet, he’s the strong type, much like myself but I know it will happen. we’ll have a tear fest. I can only imagine how hard it gets as we get older, losing our parents, getting life insurance solicitation in the mail constantly reminding us that “HEY, YOU’RE GETTING OLDER, YOU’RE GONNA DIE, PAY US TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE TAKEN CARE OF WHEN YOU CROKE OVER..” you know..that can’t be easy and that can’t be good on the soul.

Good morning world. It’s Monday, 5:52AM, time to rise with the sun and grind. My weekend, like most weekends, was spent running errands, grocery shopping, cleaning and what have you. I watched the Grammys for a bit and was happy to see Adele up and well after surgery. That woman’s voice is God sent! I ignore any negative comments made about her because those people obviously know nothing about real talent. Adele is the type to give herself in the raw, no gimmicks. She doesn’t parade around stage and wear flashy outfits to try and hide that she has no real talent, SHE IS TALENT! The sad thing is, most of the critic about Adele is on her weight. Her weight does not define her. I hope that she doesn’t let the public and their perception of what is beautiful and acceptable deter her. I’ve noticed she’s lost weight since she first surfaced, but her recent surgery could play a role in that. None the less, I’m not saying she should remain “fat” to prove a point, but that, if she’s losing weight, I’d hope it’s for her own benefit and not to “fit in” with the rest. There’s nothing worse then letting the ideals of other break you down to conformity, because when you do change, the others will say you were better before. That’s just the way people are. If you do things, do them for yourself and not to please others or you’ll end up feeling miserable, like you’re the ball on the ping-pong table of life.

I got home from work to find my new shoes waiting for me. I love them! I just love how nude pumps elongate my legs. anyways, these were such a steal! I’m happy I purchased them. the original price was $42.50 but the website I bought them from was having a Valentine’s special and they were on sale for $15. yes, $15! then with S&H my total came out to $21 and some change but I searched for some online coupons and found a code for 10% off! making my total $17 and some change with shipping and handling included. WINNING!

had a girls night with my good friend Bryanne. dinner and drinks at Applebee’s, nothing too chaotic. I had the Cajun Lime Tilapia and downed it down with Apple Sangria, it was delicious! their Tilapia was actually really good. I’m a chicken person and usually order something with Chicken in it (Chicken Alfredo) but for some reason I was craving fish tonight so I got that. next time around I’m trying their new Chipotle Lime Chicken.

*one of my new years resolutions was to try new foods from common places I dine at. I usually always order the same thing over and over. I will look through the menu, get overwhelmed by the selection, and then just stick to what I know. I HAVE TO BREAK FROM THAT HABIT! not that sticking to what you know is a bad thing, but I just want to whore out my taste buds lmao.

this came on the radio while I was driving to Applebee’s with my friend Bryanne and she went ape shit! her and her entire family are HUGE Giants fans, their big blue pride is ridiculous but awesome all at the same time lol. I know they’re super excited about the Super Bowl this year.

I personally don’t care much about watching sports all season long but I do however tune into major games like the super bowl and the world cup for instance. anyway, if you haven’t heard the song..it’s pretty catchy, enjoy!

I said I would and so I did. a couple of days ago I saw (this) chalkboard organizer for sale on etsy and decided it’s exactly what I need above my desk to organize bills and mail. I used the image as the initial influence but I did my own custom twist to fit what works for me best. I don’t need all the pockets like the etsy one and so, I made two deep ones on the left and right with a center pocket for chalk, pens, and things of that nature. I felt I needed more board space for my reminders; test dates, appointments, etc. now, I need to add some hooks on the bottom for keys, fill it with current bills that need to be paid, and of course spruce up the board with reminders.

so seriously, get creative and make your own things! it cost me about $20 to make this chalkboard organizer when it’s being sold on etsy for $230, you do the math!

*don’t mind the discolored center, I tested out the board with random doodling and that’s from erasing it.*

this is absolutely stunning! I’m an avid admirer of stained glass art. I think it’s such a beautiful medium to play with and the end results are almost always amazing as they’re illuminated by natural light.

while these are not the real deal, I admire Mandie Manzano’s use of color and detail, it’s absolutely breath taking! If these were actual stained glass windows I’d without a doubt buy them in a heart beat for my place. to check out more of Mandie’s stained glass-style renderings, click here.

new addition to one of my shelves. I found it at bargain store for $5 and just had to buy it. I love the art work on it. if you know me, you know I’m a sucker for anything inspired by the Mexican day of the dead celebration.
